Vitamin D Supplementation May Not Be Enough to Keep Depression at Bay!
A lot of Americans take Vitamin D supplements to boost mood and ward off depression. Research indicates that extremely limited exposure to sunlight leads to insufficient levels of vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin, in the blood. Studies also showed that vitamin D deficiency increases a person’s risk of depression. Those who spend much time indoors are less likely to get enough sunlight exposure. Thus, some of them assume that supplementing on vitamin D is a brilliant way to offset depression and stay in a cheerful mood. However, new research suggests that vitamin D supplements may not lower depression risk.
